Bray Whaler International Environmental Statement

Bray Whaler International is committed to conducting our business in an environmentally responsible and proactive manner, consistent with our commitment to corporate citizenship, social responsibility and sustainability. Our experience has demonstrated that sustainable business practices can be cost-effective, build employee and customer loyalty and even drive new business for the company.
We aim to conserve natural resources and minimize waste through source reduction and recycling; handle and dispose of waste through safe, environmentally responsible methods; encourage energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources; and inspire our business partners and suppliers to strive for the same high levels of environmental performance.

We're not all talk! Here's what we're doing about it:
- Bray Whaler International currently has LEED accredited professionals on staff, and others working towards that goal. That said, we can work with the design team to manage your project's LEED certification process as it relates to FF&E and/or OS&E.
- We take a proactive stance in facilitating environmentally conscious decision-making processes with clients and design firms from the earliest stages of project inception.
- We request and review strategic suppliers and channel partners environmental policies, and work with them to facilitate environmentally sound production practices.
- We continually pursue domestic sources for hospitality-grade goods, and/or work tirelessly with international manufacturers to maximize transport efficiencies and minimize redundent or unnecessary costs and carbon emissions.
- We are actively working on moving all internal and client reporting mechanisms to a more convenient, paper-free web-enabled process.
- We purchase and use recycled, or environmentally responsible office supplies wherever possible and can provide council on the incorporation of recycled operating supplies and/or sustainable methodologies for our clients.
- Internally, we have replaced all high-energy-use CRT monitors with lesser consuming LED screens and/or laptops.
- We provide in-office recycling containers for glass, plastic and paper waste.
- Our offices are easily accessed by light rail and rapid transit bus stations, and Bray Whaler participates in the RTD Eco Pass program, equipping full-time employees with discounted light rail and RTD bus access.
- Our travel management company even tracks and reports the carbon emissions resulting from our business air travel, so we can more accurately track our individual, and corporate carbon footprint!

You can get involved too! Here's what you can do:
- Give up bottled water. The environmental impact of all these plastic containers is a disaster, and if you calculate the financial cost, that drink of water will cost you more than a gallon of gasoline!
- Observe an eco day. Just for one day, don't use any machines, don't use any electrical devices, don't cook, don't talk on the phone, and in general, don't use any resources. Give yourself and the planet a break! You'll find the "disconnect" gives you (and the planet) time to breath!
- Use "your" resources. Cycle or walk to work. You'll be cutting back on greenhouse gas emissions, and adding healthy exercise to your daily routine. If this isn't an option, investigate the use of mass transit in your area. You'll save money and save trees!
- Commit to not wasting. Adjust your thermostat up or down a few degrees to cycle that heat or AC a few less times during the day. If your electrical service provider offers it, sign up for their energy cycling program... you'll reduce your cost, lower your carbon footprint, and help the rest of us to breath a little easier. Recycle or donate your old cell phone. Buy that reusable drink container at your local coffeehouse and say goodbye to paper cups.
- Build your community. Play board games with your children. Have dinner at home with family and friends. Try to have fun in a way that doesn't cost anything, financially, or environmentally.
- Recycle. Participate in your local recycling program. If one doesn't exist, be bold, and take the steps to start one.
- Know that you can make a difference. Engage in processes that better your life, and the life of others in your community. There is nothing more rewarding than to have made a positive difference in someone else's life, and it's easier than you think.
